Donation Procedures

The brain autopsy should be performed within 12 hours from the time of death.

Family members of the donors have been instructed to contact us as soon as death occurs. Funeral home, mortuary, or crematory staff members are requested to notify the Brain Endowment Bank at the time of death.

The Brain Endowment Bank maintains a 24-hour on call coverage:

When you call, please give the following information:

• your name
• the name of your facility and your relationship to the deceased
• your phone number
• the name of the deceased
• the time and place of death
