Events & Talks
It is my great pleasure to invite you to a Miami event that I believe is important to inform the public about new research on an emerging global risk to human health. Toxic algal blooms are the source of this exposure and the epicenter of the problem is right here in Florida. Who isn’t concerned about today’s alarming incidence of Dementia and ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease? Toxic algal blooms affect our drinking water and the fish we eat. This September 18, 2017, at the New World Symphony on Miami Beach, we ask you to join us. We will gather forna town hall meeting featuring an impressive panel of scientists, environmentalists, government and community advocates, who are leading the search for answers into the health impact of algal blooms. Following the town hall meeting, we are excited to premiere an exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary Toxic Puzzle: Hunt for the Hidden Killer. This film is narrated by Harrison Ford. We will be joined by award winning filmmaker, Bo Landin and Dr. Paul Alan Cox, who is the lead scientist on the hunt for the Hidden Killer, a cyanobacterial toxin in algal blooms linked to Alzheimer’s disease and ALS. We are supported by the Herbert W. Hoover Foundation, who is the sponsor of this event. Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Michele Gillen will moderate a panel and town hall meeting.
